ACUPUNCTURE Acupuncture is a system of healing which
has been practiced in China for over 3000 years. Often described
as a means of pain relief it is actually used to treat a wide
range of both acute and chronic conditions. It treats the
whole person, ie: the emotional & spiritual aspects as
well as the physical. It balances the body’s energy
system known as “Qi” energy. Acupuncture is a
safe and effective system of medicine now used worldwide.
ALEXANDER
TECHNIQUE
The Alexander Technique was established by F. M. Alexander
(1869-1955) in the late 1890's. He discovered
that habitual patterns of bodily mis-use affect the way we
function by interfering with poise and flexibility. In a
lesson we teach how to observe these patterns and alter them. We
work with hands on instruction during daily activities such
as standing, sitting, walking etc. This
encourages improved functioning both physically and psychologically
with attendant benefits in co-ordination, health and
well-being.
ALLERGY TESTING/TREATMENT Allergy Testing gives feedback on adverse reastions to a wide range of foods and environmental substances together with recommendations of changes in your diet and/or lifestyle to help you to overcome your allergies & sensitivities. You will also receive some insight inot the underlying causes of your health problems abd steps you can take to resolve these. Some allergies can be worked on using techniques which will reverse the allergy and/or increase your tolerance with immediate effect
AROMATHERAPY This therapy uses essential oils in
a holistic approach treating the whole person – physically,
mentally, emotionally and spiritually, rather than trying
to suppress symptoms. Oils are blended to suit a particular
individual – usually for a therapeutic holistic massage
although they can also be used in other ways. The massage
eliminates toxins, aids muscular relaxation and promotes a
deep sense of well-being.
BABY MASSAGE By creating special time for massage
you can give your baby a most valuable gift. Although touch
is instinctive between child and parent, massage with acquired
knowledge and skill can be focused on your baby's particular
needs. A safe organic massage oil can be provided for your
baby and you receive handouts detailing what you learn in
the session. Professional advice on the home use of essential
oils on older babies is also available.
CHIROPODY
Provides care to maintain our feet.
Our feet take a lot pounding during our lifetime. With
all the walking and standing we do it’s not surprising
they get sore and ache. But it’s normally only when
our feet give us trouble
– such as nail disorders, corns, verrucae, hard skin,
drop arches, etc, that we seek treatment. Regular appointments
with a chiropodist can help you to avoid these problems
and to relieve any feet discomforts you already have.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY Craniosacral Therapy: As a body therapy craniosacral therapy presents a bridge
between conventional treatments, dealing with both anatomy and physiology and
energy medicine. The therapist can detect disturbances and areas of holding
in the body (physical, emotional and mental) which have led to discomfort/pain/illness
and gently remove them. This leaves the body relaxed, energised and free to
heal itself.
FLOWER
ESSENCE THERAPY
The healing qualities of plants and
flowers have been recognised for thousands of years. There
are many flower essences available and it is often difficult
to decide which is going to be best and most effective. During
the consultation the therapist will discuss with you your
concerns, worries and health issues and will make an informed
choice as to which essences will be most appropriate for you.
Often more than one essence is used giving you the additional
benefits and value. Essences are normally bottled and given
to you to take orally. Occasionally though they are used in
other ways.
GRAPHOLOGY(by
post) Is the study and analysis of handwriting
for the purposes of unlocking the secrets of character and
personality. Every time we put pen to paper we reveal something
about ourselves, not just in the words but in the way we write
them. Closely linked to the impulses of the brain our handwriting
is a barometer of our emotions and our physical and mental
health. Our handwriting evolves as we do, matures with growth
and alters as a result of physical, mental or emotional change
or trauma. Handwriting analysis is a logical method of personality
assessment demonstrating strengths and weaknesses, specific
skills, and compatibility between marriage partners, friends
and business partners. It can save a business time and money
by matching the right person to the right job.
HERBAL MEDICINE/PHYTOTHERAPY Phytotherapy is a modern approach to herbal medicine combining medical sciences, plant medicine research, clinical experience, and traditional herbal knowledge, using herbs mainly from Britain , Europe and North America . Medical herbalists safely and effectively treat people of all ages, including pregnant/breastfeeding women, and people with multiple health problems or on prescription medicines, with the aim of identifying the underlying cause of illness to facilitate treatment and prevention of disease. A detailed medical history will be taken, which may be followed by examinations such as blood pressure monitoring. A unique prescription consisting of a blend of herbal extracts tailored to the individual's needs is formulated; teas, creams, tablets, and nutritional and lifestyle advice may also be given.
HOLISTIC MASSAGE This form of massage does not follow
a set sequence; it takes into account what each individual
needs at that particular time so that the massage you receive
can be quite different on each appointment. During your initial
visit the therapist agrees with you the type of massage best
suited to your needs. This can range from very deep tissue
work to very light and soothing or a combination of different
forms of massage. There are many benefits of massage on mental
and emotional levels as well as the physical. It can be rejuvenating
and invigorating or soothing and calming and is suited to
all age groups.
HOMOEOPATHY
Is a system of medicine that uses tiny
amounts of potentised substances to stimulate the body to
heal itself. It can be helpful in the treatment of any complaint,
whether physical or emotional. Many people seek help from
homoeopathy for chronic conditions such as eczema, asthma
or sinusitis, conditions for which the drugs they have been
prescribed have proved ineffective. Homoeopathy can, however,
be just as successful in the treatment of acute diseases,
such as inflammations and infections, thus avoiding the need
to use antibiotics and other conventional drugs. People who
use homoeopathy as their primary health care system often
find their state of health transformed over time.
HOPI EAR
CANDLING Is a cleansing and balancing therapy
using traditional ‘ear candles’ to rebalance the
condition of the ear and its functions. It is excellent for
many ear nose & throat conditions as well as headaches,
general stress and relaxation.
HYPNOTHERAPY People experience hypnosis many times
every day – when daydreaming, going through mental rehearsals
or when in deep thought. Usually accompanied by a feeling
of deep relaxation hypnosis is a natural state when your attention
moves inwardly. During hypnosis you are fully aware, fully
in control, and remember all that happens. Hypnotherapy allows
easier access to your inner mind in order to facilitate helpful
changes. In this very pleasant trance state we have an enhanced
capacity for insight, creativity, self healing and accelerated
learning. Inhibitions can be reduced, new skills can be strengthened
and negative unhelpful behaviours and habits can be resolved.
INDIAN HEAD
MASSAGE
A highly beneficial form of massage
covering the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp and face.
It stimulates the scalp circulation and relaxes tense muscles.
It can relieve eyestrain, headaches and neck and shoulder
problems. A 30-minute treatment can be a quick ‘pick-me-up’
as well as a therapeutic treatment. The 1-hour treatment
works on energy points and pathways as well as the physical
aspect. The client remains fully clothed and is seated on
a chain throughout the treatment.
KINESIOLOGY Is a holistic means of keeping the body
and mind in good health and improving the body’s natural
self-healing ability. People become ill when the body’s
inbuilt monitoring & balancing system is disturbed and
body functions are not operating as they should. Kinesiology
is gentle and non-invasive using muscle testing to access
information stored in the body’s complex memory system
and matches the best possible techniques and healing methods
to restore health and well-being. Lifestyle and dietary changes
to assist in the healing process, nutritional supplements
and other beneficial remedies may be recommended. Kinesiology
can be used to treat a wide range of problems from digestive
disorders, allergies, hormonal imbalances and skin problems
to increasing confidence, self-esteem and improving performance
in sports or at work.
LIFE COACHING/PERSONAL
COACHING Is about getting the very best out of
yourself – it’s a unique way of developing people.
The coach helps the client identify what they want to achieve,
whether in personal, professional or public life, then supports
the client through their quest to achieve their goals, helping
them keep focused & on track, overcoming any challenges
and obstacles. Progress is assessed at each session and achievable
goals are agreed for the client to achieve en route to reaching
their ultimate life goals.
McTIMONEY
CHIROPRACTIC
Is a treatment for restoring and
improving nervous system function. Nerves control our
muscles and joints and all other aspects of our physiology.
If our bones are misplaced for any reason this can impair
the nearby nerves and can give a variety of symptoms.
Treatment involves very high speed precision adjustments
to correct bone position. The whole skeletal structure
is assessed at every treatment and not just the symptom
areas. The treatment is light and generally comfortable
to receive.
NUTRITION There is a vast array of nutritional
supplements available, some of which make great claims to
alleviate health problems. It is often difficult to know which
products will be most beneficial and appropriate for you and
which will just be a waste of your money. Our nutritional
analysis pinpoints any vitamin, mineral and other nutritional
deficiencies you may have as well as identifying specific
supplements and doses that you need to treat your health problems
and improve your health and well-being. Sometimes deficiency
exists because the body is unable to process a particular
substance. Further treatment to restore these metabolic pathways
is also offered. Guidance on any necessary dietary changes
is also included.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
Treatments can involve a number
of methods including mobilization of soft tissues and
joints, some electrotherapy and advice on exercise and
postural care. The Physiotherapist assesses the person’s
needs as a whole, not just the physical symptoms presented
as these can be referred from another area.
PODIATRY Podiatry has developed from its origins
in chiropody to become a medical speciality dealing with
assessment, diagnosis and comprehensive management of foot
and lower limb disorders. Bio-mechanics is an orthopaedic
approach employed by podiatrists to assess the alignment
and movement of the muscles and joints of the foot and
lower limb to determine whether abnormal function predisposes
to pain and injury. Orthotic devices, similar in appearance to arch supports,
are often used to assist the function of the foot by increasing comfort and
stability. Podiatrists care for foot problems linked to
medical conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis
and minimise known risk factors. Chiropody is still considered
by some to be that aspect of podiatry that is concerned
with alleviating the symptoms of painful corns and calluses and debilitating
nail conditions.
REFLEXOLOGY Reflexology is an ancient holistic
therapy. Like acupuncture it also has its origins in China
and Egypt. Treatment can be either on the feet or the hands.
More commonly it is to the feet as they respond better.
The whole body is
‘mapped’ out on the feet and hands allowing all
the body’s systems to be worked on in a relatively
short time. The reflexologist uses precise and methodical
compression massage to bring about deep relaxation whilst
stimulating the person’s own healing process. Reflexology
can help with a wide range of disorders and has few contra-indications.
It is suitable for all ages and compatible with most ongoing
medical treatments.
REIKI
Reiki
is a safe and effective system of healing, which originated
in Japan and is now used worldwide. Reiki means Universal
Life Force or Energy. It is a form of hands on healing which
taps into the Life Force energy. This energy flows through
all matter and can be tapped into by a Reiki practitioner
to give a powerful healing. During a Reiki treatment the
healer channels the Life Force energy into the receiver's
body - triggering, enhancing and promoting the body's
natural ability to heal itself. Some people feel a sense of elation, well being
and purpose. Some see wonderful colours and feel heat, cold or tingling sensations
from the healer's hands. After treatment you may feel dizzy or unaware of your
surrounding, but most people feel a sense of deep peace and relaxation. It
could be described as a physical, emotional and spiritual inner workout.
SPORTS
MASSAGE
This type of massage is geared towards the individual
and varies depending on their particular sport. The therapist
will often concentrate on specific muscle groups using
deep tissue techniques and stretches as well as giving
advice on exercising. Sports massage is becoming increasingly
popular as it is a proven means of injury prevention.
THAI YOGA MASSAGE
Believed to have originated in India and based around the traditional teachings of Yoga and the concept of Prana, or life energy, in the body.
In essence, Traditional Thai Yoga applies firm pressure with gentle stretching to open these energy lines and bring balance to the body. It combines acupressure, energy balancing and applied yoga exercises to raise energy levels and give emotional, therapeutic and spiritual benefits.
